Microsoft Day Presentation

I made a presentation on Microsoft Day event in AUBG - "Introduction to SQL Server 2005". I discussed some of the major overall changes in the database server and introduced some of the new features. I made several demonstration of usage of these new features in common tasks faced by a developer. Of course I mentioned managed store procedures and when it is appropriate to use them. Other lecturers on the event were: Martin Kulov, CodeAttest Ltd., who made a presentation of .NET Framework 2.0 and demonstrated how a simple application is created with VS.NET 2005; Jordan Dimitrov, Crossroad Ltd., who presented Reporting Services in SQL Sever 2005; and George Chernev, FTS Bulgaria Ltd., who talked about Microsoft Axapta.

.NET Framework course at Sofia University

I had my first lecture in the "Programming for the .NET Framework" course at Sofia University. The course is given by several lecturers, ideally each teaching in his area of interest. My first lecture was Strings in .NET and my next one - Security in the .NET Framework. The course has been taught for several years now. It is currently attended by more than 150 students.
This is my first serious teaching experience and that makes it really exciting.

Meeting of Microsoft Student Consultants

April, 2004. Microsoft organized a conference for students consultants from Eastern Europe. We had the chance to meet student consultants from Hungary, Russia, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia and Cherna Gora, and Greece and discuss experience and organizational practices.
We did not have a complete plan of the conference beforehand but we were pleasantly surprised. Lubos Pechatschek and Levente Navi talked about priorities and vision of Microsoft in term of development platform and products. Achievements of the Microsoft Research program were commented.
There was a whole day devoted to Rafal Lukawiecki, who gave very interesting lectures on the future use of the .NET platform and developments of the Internet in general. He described web services standards that are being prepared and their uses.
He gave a comprehensive lecture on the transition to IPv6 and a very useful lecture on presentation skills.
Pictures: (1) Rafal Lukawiecki elaborates on my presentations skills, after an improvised presentation. (2) Our team, headed by Zlatko Polak, during the workshop. Our topic was Organization and IT infrastructure of the student consultant program.
